Man Over Board

And now for something completely different….

Most men’s website sites and blogs are mainly visual or sports related. That is why I thought to post this entry for two extremely fine websites for everyone, not just the men, to check out.

They are not loaded down with pictures and funny articles, so when you stop by, make sure you have the chance to sit and reflect while reading them.

I will give you two very short synopsis of them both with links to carry you there. I recommend both because in today’s world where so many people are connecting online, via dating sites, im’s, emails and alike. It is a good reminder to remember there is another person sitting on the other end of the net. Someone that you can affect, whether good or bad. Most forget this and feel we have this wall of anonymity, but that is truly not the case at all. Believe me, I know, I met my beautiful wife here online and know many stories similar. But unfortunately there are many horror stories also that are very troubling in this, the age of the Internet.

The first site is called The Melindaville Blog : Meliinda blogIt is a wonderfully written blog by Melinda Roberts Tyler. Her quick intro on the first page to the right will have you wanting to read more. She is openly honest and her writings are about her ” experiences as a victim of childhood sexual abuse, as a sex industry worker, as an actor and musician in San Francisco’s punk rock scene of the 1980’s and my fifteen year journey through recovery” Please don’t go there with the intention of finding low brow sexual escapades. This is one lady that has been through it all, and with that, is able to tell her triumphs and tragedies that helped her grow into the wonderful person she is today. Great find, a must read.

The second site is called” this time -this place”: this time from north of the border in Canada. This blog is a wonderful compilation of personal development and helping others to learn how to blog. I know many who read this do not have a blog, but let me tell you, by blogging you can save yourself money on going to a therapist :-) . In her own words “The diverse mix of topics I blog about demonstrates there are many paths to personal development and self improvement. My goal is to motivate readers to consider the time and the space they are in, and then embrace it as a way to maximize their own personal potential.” Another great read that is easy on the eyes and just as easy to follow.

Too sum it up, the reason I picked these two sites to share with you is this. With the advent of the Internet, there are more people spending their free time on the computer and less with books. So instead of flipping through pages, you can click your way through some beneficial reading contained in these two blogs.

  1. Nice post Glenn, I’m also sure it will be very much appreciated.

I just wanted to also say that your blog opened up very nicely.

    Have a terrific day. :)

  2. I came across the Melinda blog sometime yesterday and thought she had quite a captivating writing style. Of course, my tired eyes didn’t allow me to absorb everything overnight but I will in time.

I have yet to check out the other, but will do so. I’d trust your judgment.
