Comment Problem Resolved & Browser Reviews

Due to the large amount of spam traffic to our comment in-box, we had to install a few added layers of protection in order to cut down the amount of time spent going through each comment.

Unfortunately that meant some extra new hoops to jump through if you wanted to leave a comment. Your comments are something we at MOB cherish. Each and every comment, we truly appreciate.

In the last few days I have been told via email and other blogs that some comments were being eaten up into cyberspace or after clicking on the comment everything you just typed was lost. I want to express my appreciation for the time you spent making the comment and also my apologies if you were one of the people whose post never made it on our site.

It seems most users who were using the Internet Explorer browser were the ones affected by this problem, as all other browsers so far have not experience problems. Instead of asking anyone to change their browser, we have investigated other ways to eliminate the added protection in some areas and to hopefully have all users of IE able to post comments. (fingers crossed)

For you the reader, nothing will look different to the naked eye. We are hoping all those using the IE browser can now easily post comments. If you are still experiencing any problems please feel free to use the Red “Contact” button on your viewing left.  Simply click the tab and let us know you are having a problem and what browser you are using, we will quickly get right back to you.

Or better yet, register on our site and get the benefits that WordPress offers all posters, namely, lots of nifty tools.  You are also able to browse our site with some of the advertising disabled to. We will be adding more great reasons each month for registered users of MOB. Not to worry either, we will not spam your email boxes or give out your name to anyone!

There is one exception to this and that is anyone still using the IE version 6 this browser will continue to have problems. You should upgrade immediately to a higher version of Internet Explorer as IE version 6 is full of critical security problems. You can upgrade by clicking here IE UPGRADE or if you want you can install IE 8 by clicking HERE.

All other browsers have been checked using various systems except one and that is SAFARI/ OPERA the browser many Apple owners use. If you do use SAFARI/ OPERA and have had problems would you kindly let us know. We thank you in advance.

While on the subject the four main browsers that encompass 99% of all the traffic that come into this blog is split up accordingly. After the browser listed below and percent there is a link to take you to their homepage, in case you need updating or want to install the browser.

I have been using three of the four top browsers and will give you a quick review by me on each one. I am not an expert but feel I spend more time on my ass in front of the computer then most people do working a full time job. So I am qualified for something, just not sure what it is. If someone would like to add a review for SAFARI/ OPERA (Apple Based Browsers),  I will be glad to post your review here.

Again thank you for all your comments and your patience as we grow here at MOB.

FIREFOX: Percent of Total Traffic: 66% Get Firefox

SAFARI/OPERA:Percent of Total Traffic: 6% Get Safari Get Opera

OTHER: Percent of Total Traffic: 1%

Firefox: This was my main browser for almost a year. I enjoyed the quick response and load time, the layout and tons of new add ons almost daily. However I did have issues when using videos and flash. It would also freeze up on my and I would have to reboot, although it did get me back to the page I had froze up on. IE 8: Of course everyone first starting out with a PC has Internet Explorer installed and ready to use out of the box. It is Microsoft’s official browser and when all others fail this is the tried and true version. Because it was the largest browser, it attracted the most hackers and security patches were a daily ritual. IE 8 I believe is a much better platform then the earlier versions. I rarely use it now, as it does not have as many gadgets, dood dads and add ons as many of the others. For more info on IE go here

Google Chrome: This is my current favorite and I use it daily. It is very intuitive and I love the layout. Like most of the new browsers it has so many customizations that you can do to it, I have barely scratched the surface. As a blogger thou, it has the most consistent platform with the least amount of problems, especially when your surfing and having to do many “drops” or clicks. To find out more about Chrome go here

Safari: Safari is a web browser developed by Apple Inc. First released as a public beta on 7 January 2003 on the company’s Mac OS X operating system, it became Apple’s default browser beginning with Mac OS X v10.3 “Panther”. Apple has also made Safari the native browser for the iPhone OS. A version of Safari for the Microsoft Windows operating system first released on June 11, 2007 supports both Windows XP and Windows Vista. The current stable release of the browser is 4.0.3 for Mac OS X and Windows. Safari had a 4.24% market share in September 2009. (Wikipedia) For more on Safari go here

I will,  in the next coming weeks use Safari, and give you an update to let you know my thoughts. However I feel in order to do a proper review, someone who uses a MAC operating System would be much better suited for this.

Finally while researching this post I came upon yet another browser and this one is very enticing, especially for all us bloggers it is called Flock and I am planning on downloading it over the weekend and trying it on a 14 day trial run and will update you all on my thoughts. It is built for social networking and looks to be very friendly for us wrtiters of blogs. Here is what their website has to say about it:

Flock is a browser. The people here at Flock are committed to building a browser unlike anything you’ve ever experienced before – because we start by focusing on user needs. We take pride in solving for common behaviors on the Web that seem clunky today, and will seem ridiculous tomorrow. We’re taking you there.

We’re focused on keeping you close and better connected to the people, places and things you love, more informed about the topics that turn you on, and smiling about the way it all comes together. We love nothing more than hearing from users who didn’t know they were experiencing ‘conventional browser fatigue’ until they’ve downloaded Flock..and voila. Their lives get that much better.

I hope you all have a wonderful and glorious day. Until next time.

  1. I was one of the last IE holdouts, and even I have finally adopted Firefox as my main browser. It’s faster, and you can’t beat that spellcheck add-on with a stick.

IE still gets used by me however; for some reason, HTML written in IE is “cleaner” (simpler?). Plus I’ve found some glitchy Firefox audio issues.

-But 85% of the time, Firefox is the pony I bet on.

  2. I posted about Flock a while back…and of course, downloaded it. It is super cool. You’ve gotta try it. I think you’ll like it!

  3. I love Firefox to pieces. It’s my favorite browser.

    Have a terrific day. :)

  4. Hi Glenn. I’m glad I saw this because I was having problems loading your site in IE8. I have since switched my default browser back to AT&T/Yahoo and so far so good. I’m not real crazy about AT&T/Yahoo browser which is why I made IE8 the default. Just seems like a vicious cycle. Anyway, have a good day.
