MOB Security Update
Update to our update.
I am sorry to say the new security measure using the sentence “What is color is the color orange” decided to stop working and lock up all comments. It seems it stated after entering your comment it would state “that comments were closed”. I am hoping after deleting this measure the comments will be working again. If not please use the contact me button on the left and let me know. I hate to have to lose anybodies comments because of these DAMN Spam Bots.
For now I will have little to no security measures until I can figure this out. I have tried every comment system out there and many will not work with this Word Press theme. I would love to use Commentluv or Disqus but unfortunately they are not configurable with this theme.

We are aware that sometimes the word CAPTCHA that was being used for comments and member sign ups would sometimes either not work, acted strangely or required posting three or four times in order to make a comment or to become a member.
We eliminated the CAPTCHA today for 30 minutes and unfortunately during that brief time period we got hammered by over 30 spam bots or approximately one every minute.
KILL THE SPAM BOT!!!!
So we are trying something new for all comments that will hopefully eliminate the CAPTCHA and avoid the pesky Spam Bots. There is now a security question that should do the trick. (By the way the answer to the question is Orange. The question is: What color is the color orange.) Pretty tough huh? But I guess it is enough of a deterrent to eliminate the bots.

Hey Guys….so sorry to hear this. I have never understood the reasoning behind spam bots….its not like anyone benefits from them.
In any event…I think the color idea will work better than the captcha thing

I wonder if that’s why you couldn’t comment on my blog. The CAPTCHA was getting messed up.
That could be it. All I know is soon as I got rid of the old CAPTCHA I am getting tons of new members signing up. I had no idea it was happening to so many. iIt is good to know now that everyone seems to be getting through fine now. So sorry about any troubles before.
This is also easier for me to see. Just saying. That other thing was difficult. Sometimes I would have to do in two or more times. Just saying. I hope your new system works.

It’s unfortunate that we have to employee “security” features for those stupid spambots. Who are they and what is their point. The one wordpress blog I had a while back used to get bombarded with the craziest crap you can imagine. I like the security question better than those dreadful letters.
I don’t see how they make money loading up blogs with spam, can you?
With so much spam on the web, you think we could end world starvation. After all there’s enough spam out there to feed the entire planet several times over. But then really, who wants a steady diet of mystery meat anyway? Just goes to prove that there are way too many people out there with nothing better to do and that there are way more sociopaths than most of us suspect.
I hate spam, even in the can.
So it’s the same question always? I’ve never seen this. Spam sucks and those that contribute are even worse. Do they really make money from this? I want to see some numbers on what they are making from posting this crap. It can’t be worth it…can it?
Yup same question over and over. It seems the spam bots are just that robots, so they have no intelligence and can’t figure out how to write the color in. Of course a month from now that could all change, but as long as it is working now I am happy
It took me 30 minutes to figure out the answer to this question. I thought it was a trick!
I am glad to see that you have found a way around the CAPTCHA! I had a couple of comments not post because of it and I got tired of trying some days. Now, I never have to worry about that again.
Just the other day, I was so excited because I had my first spam comment! I am not so excited now! That robot brought a lot of friends and my site was getting bombarded. The Askimet plugin works very well at capturing the spam though.

When we were young, my sister and I had a couple of baby ducks. Actually, on a Tuesday we had the ducks, then on Wednesday they were gone. My parents assumed that a cat was involved in their demise, but I was never really sure about that.
I’m wondering now if Spambots had anything to do with their mysterious disappearance.
Probably not actually. But I do like being asked the occassional simple question – “What color is an orange?” I know the answer to that!
