A Nostalgic Thanksgiving Pictorial

First off a very Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving from all of us here at Man Over Board to you and your family. I was reminiscing today about holidays past and thought it a good idea to share with you some really classic Americana. We spent time going through 1000′s of photos from the New York Public Library and also the Norman Rockwell collection of classic paintings to remember a bygone era.

A picture is worth a thousand words and so be it. The first part are the classic Rockwell paintings that graced the Boys Life and the Saturday Evening Post magazine covers. The second part are photographs, mostly 1913 to 1937 in New York City. These include old Macy Day Parade Balloons and various landmarks around the city taken during the Thanksgiving Day holiday.

While you are enjoying your Thanksgiving with your family and friends. Please don’t forget our brave young men and women who fought for our freedom and came back, never to be the same again. Many who have no family to enjoy the holiday with. Giving a donation to the Paralyzed Veterans of America will surely make this day a little better for those who served. You can donate by clicking on the top left or simply by clicking here.
