2009 A Year In Review And Quickly To Be Forgotten

From our first black President Obama to a little known women from Britain by the name of Boyle. It was a hard year to cheer about, let alone write about with any great fanfare or glitter.

We had two historic franchises in sports come up big, the Yankees on one coast and the Lakers on the other. There was recession, unemployment and foreclosures. Bye to Goldman Sachs, AIG, Citigroup and Chrysler.

We watched a man named Sully land a plane into the Hudson and another named Billy die from hitting his head on a plane. We braced for a viral flu and  got viral on You Tube. New words joined our vocab from Twitter Tweets to Google Waves. We were told over and over the earth was warming and Jon and Kate were cooling.

We said good bye to Carridine’s Kung Fu, Cronkite’s “And That’s The WayIt Was”,  MJ and Teddy K, Beautiful Farah, Brittney and Handsome Swayze. Some stumbled along the way from Tiger and Elhi to Rhianna and Brown, Letterman to Agassi. We blasted Kanye and uplifted Taylor. We grumbled at Lambert and mumbled about Gaga.

While I had hoped there might be more I could have dug up in an uplifhting way, afraid that’s what we got in the year that passed. I did find this amusing clip on YouTube set by a talented DJ Steve Porter.

Tomorrow we will finish up the last leg of the series on traffic and new blogs. Be well you’all.

  1. I love it Glenn. You’ve captured this past year quite nicely. You truly have. Excellent.

Have a terrific day and may you and yours have a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. Big hugs. :)

  2. You certainly did a good job of reviewing this past year Glenn. That was a terrific post. I do like the Susan Boyle story but not crazy about how that all turned out but it had to be. Happy Happy New year Glenn. Hope it is a healthy one too.

  3. Happy New Year Glen! Thanks for being a great friend :)

  4. Hi Glenn, loved the 2009 review. Personally, and with the utmost sincerity, the celebrity death of the past year that impacted me the most was the passing of Billy Mays. Now there was a pitch man! I’m sure part of my affection for Billy was the fact that he had a great beard since I also used to sport one but grew weary of coloring it. Have a great 2010, Glenn!

  5. Thanks for the wonderful comment and well wishes! This is a wonderful article, for a year that many are glad to see go. So, with that we are off to a new decade and a new beginning. Happy and Prosperous New Year to you and yours! Thanks for being a great friend! :)

  6. I hope the New Year brings many good things to you. Thank you for your supportive comments about my blog, and I’m sure you will continue making yours great.

  7. I’m sorry I missed this Glenn. We have had so many special losses this year. However, we are all still here, and I hope all of us have a safe and joyful new year.

  8. A very nice wrap up Glenn! I think you've got it all very tightly covered, unlike some of us (ok – me) who tend to be a little too wordy for our own good!!
