Complete SpamBot List

Spambots Bye Bye
For those of you who use any type of ban plug in or anti virus programs for your blog or website I went through the complete list at User Agents Org . I then picked out all the spam bots from their great list of search-engines spiders and crawlers, web-directories, download managers, link checkers, proxy servers, web filtering tools, harvesters, spambots, badbots.
If you go to their site, some of the spambots have stories attached that told of what some users had to contend with once their servers were over taken by these pesky bastards.
I then inserted them into my ban plug in and within three hours already I have 157 bans.
I truly apologize if for some odd reason one of our regular readers got banned because of this. I will be happy to look into why it did it and of course remove your ip from it.
The * at the end of each spam bot is used as a wildcard. Good luck and I hoped it helped. Death to Spam

I have Norton 360. Does that take care of all these? I haven't a clue as to what you did to get rid of these. Just saying. Big hug.
Sandee only if your having any problems with getting lots of spam in your comment section. I unfortunately have been barraged with spam and no matter what plug ins and combinations I use I am still getting lots. This so far is working, so I thought to pass it on. God I hate spam

Up to 321 spambots as of midnight. So that is a 7 hour period and I still use Askimet and a few others, WOW Thanks Roschelle

I am using anti Scraper plugin and Askimet Also not forgeting capcha thanks for the list I will Put them Bad Bots in my Blacklist

Tried them all, I hate CAPTCHA and be damned if I make anyone have to try and figure those darn things out. Especially me!!!
Akismet usually takes care of the spam I get. Occasionally, I may get the odd one, but not too bad.
I also use the Bad Behavior plugin which works great for me as it stops many of the spam bots from even reaching my blog.
Boy, Paul I wish that were true with me, at first Askimet did wonderful. But I have no idea why not so much. This past month I looked today and Askimet had caught over 3150 spams already. For some reason, it could be the name of my blog, or that once in a while we have some pretty girls pics, or even the fact we get so many comments. After two months I would say before this weekend we will have hit 1000 comments, not including my long winded remarks So I keep adding new ways to foil them and they find new ways to get by them, always looking for that better mouse trap

I know but I have set mine to medium it's enough not to turn off visitors but enough to turn away Bad Bots sometimes it's hard to know what to use

I only wish. My bots behaved overnight thou, so maybe this will be a good day. I shot out all the spam in the house, so they can't eat here anymore.
Makes me spitting mad that some peeps have nothing better to do than create this crap. When we had the forum up at our site, 99% of my time was chasing this little bastards off. I got sick of it-killed the board.

Todd not sure if your running Word Press or not. But if you are I found after a ton of different plug ins one that works great with Askimet. It's called WP-Spamfree and I highly recommend it. After I installed it a few days ago it has free my time up by over 30 minutes a day, filtering and deleting.
