A Girl Like You

I got this stuck in my head this morning so I thought I would pass it on to you. A PAY IT FORWARD gift. The song is by Edwyn Collins and the name is that of this post title “A Girl Like You”.  While it never made a big splash here in the states, it is a catchy tune as you will soon see. Peace Glenn

  1. You're right, this is a catchy tune….thanks, I'll be singing this one all day!

  3. Just curious, why do you have your entrecard widget above all of your paid ad widgets. That does not make any sense and honestly is it fair to people who pay to advertise on your blog versus those who advertise for free?

    • Well first of all it states in EC rules to be above the fold, hence it is. It is also one of the largest traffic generators to MOB and advertisers like lots of traffic. As far as paid advertisers go I am glad you know who paid and who didn't. The CMF ads and Adgitized ads are all in compliance with their guidelines and practically every advertiser that has signed up with us in regards to CMF has re-booked another ad with us. They also get plenty of ad clicks, according to them also. Not to mention I am in CMF's top 15 blogs for page views. I also do not take their new Network ads because they take away from ad views from paying customers. If you look at many of the blogs adgitzied and cmf are towards the bottom of the blogs. Whether that is right or wrong it is their blog and people will spend their money with the blogs that give them the best opportunity to be seen and clicked on.

My CMF ads are above the fold and Adgitized was also off line for the last two days, I am sure that didn't help any of the advertisers. Also the best place to advertise on any site/blog is on the left side bar, not the right. People who pay the most get the best placements. Honestly in my opinion all the traffic sites are not something a blog should base their traffic on. It is fresh and creative content, so that the reader stays on your site as long as possible. Most of my traffic comes from organic and search results not traffic sites, but they do help new blogs.

I was just wondering why you charged .50 cents the same as I do and only have one widget on the right side? Your site has around 2000 ad views a month and you have 8 advertisers so that comes out to 250 ad views a month for your advertisers. We have over 15000 ad views a month and 14 advertisers and they get almost 1100 ad views a month. (I usually never have 14 advertisers, it is usually around 8 like you). But regardless my advertisers get over 4 times the views on my site then they do on yours, even with the extra advertisers? My avgerage ad view for CMF ads are close to 2500 ad views a month since we started.

Perhaps you should put up more CMF widgets. I also do not sell anything on my site, while you are a hat store, which is great, but people come to your site with hats in mind, not to be entertained. So the difference between being a blog or a website are completely different demographics. If you charge the same amount for an ad, then perhaps you should increase the amount of ad views for your advertisers, I am just curious why you don't?

I hope this answers your questions. If anyone of my advertisers wrote to me and were not happy I would certainly take care of them. But so far I have yet to have one complaint. Good luck with your business I even saw a hat I liked over there :-)

  4. Great song and like Sandee I haven't heard that one in a long time but it is one of my favorites. Thanks for the video.

  7. Way to Go Glenn, now when I put back my streaming, Radio Margaritaville, or KPIG listen, that song will be stuck in my head.

Way to Go Glenn, I can't wait til I get all grown up. So, I can advertise on MOB. Sounds like good pound for the buck!

Way to Go Glenn, Now I'll have to go visit the hat dude, and I don't buy hats…I steal em'

    Peace.

  8. I loved that song when it was sort of a hit here. I don’t even have the sound turned on and you got it stuck in my head. There is only one cure…
    “I’m Henry the 8th I am, I am. Hen-ery the 8th I am…”
Hmmm the cure is worse than the ailment.

  9. LOL thanks Don, you got my back. The gall of some people, but I let all comments go through. If he spent more time on blog building his site then he wouldn't have to worry so much about others. Think I am going to start selling hats too on here.

  10. I've always loved this song, but I never knew who sang it until now.
