The Lost Boy

Lost Boys

With the passing of Corey Haim, who recently was known for a pathetic reality show a few years back on one of the cable networks. It was called “The Two Corey’s , Feldman being the other Corey. It reminded me how cute this kid was in The Lost Boys, he’s the one in the middle of the above picture.

I first saw Corey Haim in one of the few vampire movies I really ever cared for. The Lost Boys. It is ironic with all these new young and hip new vampire movies and TV series coming on now, that it reminded me  of how nothing will beat the Lost Boys at least to me. It is the only horror film I have on dvd. Haim was an irresistibly cute boy in this movie, to see him in later years was heart breaking. Rarely making any sense as he chain smoked, was overweight and worn/drugged out.

Of course this was before Haim overdosed and ended his life. A tortured soul. The price of fame to young. Out of control in many of the scenes, still hooked on whatever drug he could find. I knew watching this disaster it wouldn’t be long before he was dead.

They had worked into the TV script how the two Corey’s were going to both star in a what was to be called Lost Boys 2. Haim couldn’t get through the filming of it and was fired. The TV reality series called the Two Corey’s also did not get picked up for another season.

That was the last I had heard of Corey Haim, until yesterday when he was found dead in an apparently accidental OD. Maybe it was accidental, maybe not. Either way, his soul will hopefully be at rest now. Found dead by his Mom, in what was ironically the same apartment complex that Rick James OD”ed in. Life is strange, People are strange.

I always thought that Jason Patric who also starred on the Lost Boys was an exact look a like as Jim Morrison, who was the lead singer in the The Doors, another tortured soul, who sadly also died young from an over dose. It is his song that plays in the background of the Lost Boys and is featured in this video trailer of the Lost Boys. RIP Corey, Rick and Jim

  1. ann

Kind of makes you think, maybe being rich and famous isn’t so great.

    • Ann if your not happy, I don’t think any amount of fame or fortune will change that. I can only imagine the fake people that claim to be your friends and never really having any privacy.

  2. I don’t remember him, but we were never much into television or the movies. We don’t have television now and most of the new stars we’ve not even heard of. It is wonderfully quiet and peaceful. Just saying.

Have a terrific day. Big hug. :)

  3. He was great in The Lost Boys and a few other movies earlier in his career, I always enjoyed his movies. I watched The Two Coreys and could tell he was struggling with his personal demons. I always liked this guy, too bad he couldn’t get through his problems.

  4. I remember the “Lost Boys” movie well. Looking back now I guess the title was quite appropriate. We all develop our sense of selves at about the time that child or young stars begin to come into their own. When you are starting to make it in show biz people that are naturally around you at that time tell you what you want to hear and do what you want them to do. That is an incredible power to have for somebody that does not know what to do with the energy that provides. Thank you for stopping by my site my friend and also leaving a comment. I too will come back here more often. Take care. ;o)

    • You are most welcome my new friend. That is one of the bad things about not using EC anymore. I miss the new blogs and also blogs I might have missed. I don’t miss dropping 300 clicks, just all the great bloggers there. Welcome to MOB :-)

  5. You know, I use to love him. You just can’t help someone who doesn’t want to help themselves.

  6. You know what’s funny, of the two Coreys, I would have put my money on Feldman going down that path. In their Youth, Haim seemed to be the one that was more on the ball. Life’s funny.

    • Me too when they were young, completely opposite now, especially now, one is still breathing. But he did lose his hot wife, she dumped him.

  7. Lost Boys was such a great movie! It’s a shame when early fame can’t be used positively. Reminds me of someone close to me who didn’t OD, but is now in prison for getting way out of control and not being able to handle things. My brother’s blog that i created of his letters and such has just begun in hopes of giving others hope: http://clarkcoleman.com

  8. I do feel pity for child stars who had their childhood robbed from them, especially from selfish ass wipes who don’t give enough of a crap about the kid and exploit he or she until they are drug addicts, criminals or suffering from depression. I wonder how his life would have been if he had waited awhile before going into show business.

    • That’s a question I am sure someone that age couldn’t answer on their own. I am also sure most parents who do have the opportunity to answer that question would say yes. No matter how young or old, money and fame are a very strong drug, that’s hard to say no to.
