What The Hay

Oil_Spill!_by_Berger

We are reposting this post in an effort with many other bloggers who want to call out attention the travesty in the gulf.  Special mention to Mama at Recycled Frockery, who has been spearheading this movement. PLEASE not only stop by her great blog, but add comments or call people to have them join in,  to what is the worst oil spill of our time and with no end in sight!!!

picture from book Oil Spill by Melvin Berger, illustrated by Paul Mirocha, ©1994.

Came across these two good ole boys who just might have a good idea here. Seems they have an an answer to all the oil that has been leaking into the gulf for some time now.

Their idea is to just add hay. Yup hay or straw shot out into the ocean and let it sit for a small amount of time and whamo, the oil is gone. It seems the oil attaches itself t the hay and simply scooping up the hay and as you will see, do one of many things with it.

Hay, it’s easy, it’s plentiful, it’s cheap and it’s a damn good idea.

  1. WOW that is AMAZING!!!! Retweet retweet retweet! So my question is, why hasn’t the government DONE that yet? These guys are incredible!

  2. ann

Hay that’s impressive. Could be quite profitable for the farmers too. I just want to know who’s going to be responsible for stirring it up like the guy in the video did?

The Government will most likely pull this video before long as it does for any other cure…or remedy that manages to reach the public…
Can you imagine what freedom of the press will do to their job security~

P.S Glenn…typo central in your paragraph dude….what were you smoking when you typed this one …lol…couldn’t resist~

By the way…you have been Buzzed :)

  5. This would work even better with HEMP! Grows almost anywhere, no chemicals needed for pest control, and it’s cheap.
Then when it’s all picked up, dump it in all the back yards of the homes owned by these CEO’s form each oil company! Let them live in the mess they created!

  6. I seen a Video like this where they used Human Hair it had the Same effect

  7. This is complete genius. I have a new respect for farmers. Government needs to start listening!

  8. Sometimes, the most ordinary people are the most brilliant. Impressive! We need to spread the word ;-)

  9. Absolutely an amazing brainchild! So the oceans will be filled with hay. LOL
Hope this discovery will have extensive studies on waste management and its effects on the environment. Just my two cents though. :)

  10. Gosh, that is genius. Leave it to the Southerners to come up with this idea. What a good idea. Sure hope someone tries this idea. They sure need to do something other than what they are doing which is nothing. Great find Glenn. Someone needs to send this video to the powers to be.

  11. Retweeted and tweeted again Glenn. This entire thing is a joke and I’m starting to really get pissed off about it. I hope everyone has stopped using BP gas for the time being. I mean, I would pity people if they were supporting that company right now.

  12. Very compelling graphic – if there is an original site to point to, maybe a google bomb is in order?

  13. RT @ahardrain: What The Hay #oilspill http://bit.ly/br1gzS

  14. They keep trying all these dangerous chemicals to fix a chemical problem. Hay is at least not adding to the problem.

  15. Have Mercy Glenn That’s Absolutely Wonderful. We’re gonna have to repost and share the linky love with you this week Mr Man. you’re really a kick in friend.

  16. It seems like there is finally some good news with the spill. The Houston Chronicle reports, U.S. ships were being outfitted earlier this month with four pairs of skimming booms airlifted from the Netherlands and should be deployed within days.” I hope this is a sign of things to come. For all those feeling pretty gloomy about this situation, I recommend a good laugh… Here’s a funny joke, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3j7uSbccSc

  17. This entire catastrophe with BP is insanity. The measure of spewing into the Gulf of Mexico sprung up by 1000′s of barrelfuls Wednesday after an subaquatic droid ostensibly struck the containment cap that has been capturing crude from BP’s Macondo well. I wonder how much devastation this entire oil spill is going to cost the Gulf when it’s all over
