MEL GIBSON was so wound up at being quizzed over alleged domestic violence that he punched a tree, a pal claimed yesterday.
Gibson, 54, is said to be battling anger issues since he was accused of attacking ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, 39, and injuring their daughter Lucia, eight months.
He was quizzed by social services on Wednesday over the alleged attack in January.
The friend (?) said he is “doing well” – but had earlier lashed out at a tree. They added: “He punched the bark a few times and injured his fist quite badly.”
Mad Max star Gibson is now at a California retreat where he prays for three hours a day with the pastor from a Malibu church he owns. He also sees a therapist.
A website yesterday claimed Gibson texted his ex the day after the incident, admitting: “Oksana, I wasn’t safe for you last night.”
His lawyers deny he hit her.
