The NFL Draft has Lost its Luster
This NFL labor dispute is killing me. Normally at this time of the year (NFL draft time), I’m as excited as can be about football. I normally have watched ESPN enough to be familiar with the college crop of players going into the draft. I normally have already penciled out which guys I hope my hometown squad (Go Raiders!) will pick in the draft. And right after the draft, I normally can’t wait to read in more detail about the players my team ended up drafting. I even enjoy forecasting what their ratings will be on the next year’s version of Madden!
But this year I just don’t feel that same excitement. I guess it’s hard to get amped when you aren’t even sure if there’s going to be a season next year. In fact, it’s bewildering that teams can even be allowed to make draft picks at all if there is no labor agreement in place with the player’s union. It’s got me feeling all weird for this year’s draft, which is a bummer since it’s normally my happy time. Boo..

I am not happy about this either. But I won’t get upset because all my energy is going into my SF Giants right now. (But the Raiders are my football team too!)
A new MOBfact! I didn’t know…”I hope my hometown squad (Go Raiders!) will pick in the draft”. Damn MOBster, I grew up in El Sobrante, and I bleed Silver and Black! Went to my first DA RAIDERS game when I was 7. They played at Laney Jr. College! Blanda and Flores QB’s.
I too am saddened and chagrined over this stupid lock-out crap. The Players need the Owners…The Owners need The Players…NOBODY needs the Fing Union! (anymore).
I will recap the Draft when it is over, and will hope Al Davis was lucid throughout the selection process.
Linda is a RAIDER fan also, we need to start our own blogging Silver and Black attack.

Don, I live in Alameda. This is where the Raider’s Training Camp is located, and about 10 minutes away from the Stadium. A lost season will hurt so many people far beyond the players and owners. This economy does not need any more hits right now. Silver and Black!
