We here at Man Over Board have joined with many other bloggers to keep attention on the devastation this oil spill has created.  Still to this day, it  is bewildering how such a large corporation ran this particular rig. They by-passed, ignored and cared less to the safe guards that were set in place.  Even with all the redundancies, that were suppose to be in place, in order for a tragedy of this magnitude never to have happened. Well it did and continues!!!

We are mad, mad as hell and the fact that the oil still gushes out at an unrepresented rate is astounding. Why is it not capped yet? How can all the scientific knowledge they process not be able to come up with a solution to stop the devastation that continues to kill all life in the area?

This is not our first post and more then likely not our last either, until something is done to control this leak and to stop any other future instances that could happen and will happen.

We have posted about how a simple solution of using hay to help soak up the oil, a non harmful way for the environment. We have posted in regards to what the future of the East Coast will have to face this summer. I am sure our readers have heard or have also thought of ways to help stop the flow of oil that is continuing to pour into our Gulf Shores. We love to hear them.

For those of you who believe as we do, it is time we all take a stance and show  our disgust over not only BP, but our government who still wants off shore drilling to continue.

Alleged Obama Deception Censorship Stirs Up Alex Jones And His Rabid Fans

Filmmaker and talk show host Alex Jones is crying foul and claiming that the Obama Administration (or someone acting on their behalf) hacked into his account and deleted his youtube video for his film “The Obama Deception.” Jones is claiming that Youtube censored him and violated his first amendment rights.  The controversial conspiracy theorist is also the founder ofprisonplanet.com and infowars.com. He also has a radio show, which is syndicated to over 60 AM and FM stations across the country.

The so-called filmmaker recorded an emergency video message and dispersed it on Youtube.  The Obama Deception was reaching “viral status” according to Jones and he feels that the Administration thwarted the momentum of his video by hacking into his account.  Therefore, anyone who googled President Obama’s name on Google would see a link to the video at the top of the search results.  But, when clicking on the link it was a dead link.

I have been an on and off again smoker for only 30 years. It has been a love/hate relationship all my life. To anyone who has ever smoked or still do, we all deep in our hearts want to quit. But for whatever reason be it we are addicted or simply we just love the enjoyment of smoking, quitting has always been hard to do.

I live in New York in the good old US and here we are being hit with yet another tax on cigarettes, because the state is going broke and of course anyone who has a vice, whether it be a alcoholic drink when we get home from a long day at work or like me enjoy to light up a “cancer stick”, we are the ones who always get punished with a sin tax. I personally am sick and tired of feeling like a second class citizen because I enjoy a cigarette. I am sure our beer drinkers or martini lovers feel the same way. Here in New York we are looking at paying $10 a pack for cigarettes. 85% if that money is tax.

The government allows us to smoke and they also allow us to manufacturer tobacco and alcohol, yet we are always the ones who end up paying more, when States don’t know how to spend their money correctly.

Those of you who are regulars to my blog have seen to fairly large banners on MOB both for an electronic cigarette called GREEN SMOKE. The reason I advertise these cigarettes are many and below I will tell you why.

First of all I am sick and tired of being taxed to death. Yes I know us smokers are slowly killing ourselves from the dangerous chemicals in cigarettes. But as I said above many of us would love to quit and have, yet we still crave a cigarette daily. I know smokers are more likely be sicker then a non smoker and therefore we tax the health care system more because of it. So why don’t we tax the shit out of MacDonald’s or Pepsi then? Obesity is also running rampant in increasing health care also? Well I am happy to tell you Green Smoke will help you greatly but I will get to that in a minute.

Second it is a statistic that restaurants and bars have lost a large percentage of business once they instituted no more smoking allowed in those establishments. I have personally tried 5 different companies and they ranged in price from $45 for the start up kit to $139. When it came down to what worked and what didn’t there was only one company that stood far and above all the rest. GREEN SMOKE.

They are the most expensive to start up with. The kit I got was $139 but the quality of the product was unbeatable, as is their service. I did find one other company that had a decent product, but like most of all the others, they simply couldn’t supply me with the cartridges to replenish. So why they were less expensive, what good is it to someone if you cannot get the cartridges and you will end up going to the store and buy a pack of cigarettes and be back to square one.

To finish up this fairly long post I will simply give you my own reasons and experiences why this is the only company to deal with if you decide you want to quit smoking real cigarettes or if you miss smoking cigarettes and enjoyed them, but do not want to become addicted to smoking the terrible toxic products that real cigarettes give you.

1. The vapor that Green Smoke gives you is identical to smoking a real cigarette. Except it is simply water vapor and nicotine.

2. You can pick how much nicotine you want from the equivalence of a non filter Lucky/Camel or you can smoke without any nicotine. They have every mg covered. From heavy, regular, light, ultra or none. My first cartridges were regular, I used to smoke lights and the regulars believe me, had more nicotine in them then what I was used to and I could feel the difference.

3. They have your regular smoke tastes, or menthol, if that’s what you like. I myself enjoy now smoking Vanilla and it smells great too. You can pick a variety of different flavors, from Coffee to Chocolate and on and on.

4. YOU CAN SMOKE THESE ANYWHERE!!!!! You get a card that resembles a credit card and yes you can use these in public places as you are no longer using smoke, just water vapor and the light pleasant smell of what flavor you picked. There is no need for matches as these work on an atomizer and a battery. I still get a kick out of using mine and have so many people come up to me and either scold me or are instantly asking me questions. Hell I could sell the crap out of these, if I decided to.

5. They cost less then $2.70 a pack. That’s right these are cheaper then smoking the real deal. After your initial investment in the kit, all you need after that is replacement cartridges. They come in 5 cartridges per pack and each cartridge is equivalent to a pack of cigarettes (20). I myself have found them to last longer, but that is up to you, towards the end of the cartridges life you will start to taste what I refer to as a burnt taste. It isn’t pronounced, but you can taste it and the amount of vapor is not as great as a new cartridge. Besides, after using one that length of time, I recommend using a new one anyway for sanitary purposes.

6. This is the best benefit. After using Green Smoke for one week I felt the difference in my lungs and my capacity to not “run out of breath” as easily. Now after several months, I have no inkling to want to smoke a regular cigarette, I have basically cut way down in smoking, yet I still enjoy using them when the urge arrives. I am even thinking to place my next order with no nicotine in them at all, as I really just enjoy the fact of being able to smoke and not feel guilty, spending a lot of money and being addicted to them any longer. If I quit tomorrow, it would not bother me at all. My lings have thanked me and I have even started running again, because I can and I do not have the urge to over eat , as some of us do when we quit.

It’s a terrible calamity that those in charge never should have allowed to happened, it’s doing incalculable damage that will last for generations, and even as the destruction continues to spread, the government seems powerless to stop it.

No, I’m not talking about BP and the Gulf. I’m talking about President Obama, the millions of unemployed Americans, and the gulf between what needs to be done to deal with the jobs crisis and what is actually being done. It speaks volumes about our country and our deeply dysfunctional political system that not only have we been unable to bring the unemployment rate down, we can’t even pass a bill extending unemployment benefits.

As the Huffington Post’s Arthur Delaney points out, by the end of this week, Congress’ failure to act will bring the total number of long-term unemployed prematurely cut off from aid to 2.5 million. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ June 2010 numbers, the unemployment rate is currently 9.5 percent. Almost half of those out of work have been looking for a job for over six months. What’s more, the only reason the unemployment rate went down .2 percent in June is because over 650,000 people had become so discouraged they left the workforce altogether and are no longer being counted. Also not being counted are the underemployed — those hoping for full-time work who’ve had to settle for part-time jobs. When you factor them in, you have nearly 26 million peoplewho are unemployed or underemployed. And, over the next few months, upwards of 700,000 Census workers will be looking for a job, their services not required for another ten years.

And yet our system seems incapable of doing the obviously right thing. Yes, some of the hold-up in extending unemployment benefits has to do with the intricacies regarding the replacement of the late Senator Robert Byrd. But the fact that something so necessary to the well-being of the country has to come down to arcane Senate procedures is a gigantic warning sign of how seriously out of whack our nation’s priorities have become.

The White House has the ultimate PR weapon — the president’s bully pulpit. But he seems unwilling to use it on this issue. Why isn’t his administration doing everything possible to make it impossible for Congress not to pass the extension? If you’d told the members of Obama’s team during their first week in office that, come the summer of 2010, unemployment benefits, which were routinely extended under President Bush, would be allowed to expire for over 40 days and counting, they — to borrow a phrase from Richard Clarke — would have been running around with their hair on fire. And rightly so. Yet does anybody see that kind of urgency coming out of the White House? Not just about extending unemployment benefits, but about creating jobs.

Instead, the administration keeps reminding us how much worse things were before it took office. “Understand,” Robert Gibbs saidSunday on Meet the Press, “the last six months of 2008, we saw an economy that shed three million jobs. The first six months of 2010, the economy has created 600,000 private sector jobs…We think if you take a look backwards and look forwards, there’s no doubt that we’re on the right path.” We may be on the right path, but we’re traveling down it at a snail’s pace when we should be putting the pedal to the metal.

Maybe one of the reasons the administration is so reluctant to take on the ludicrous Republican economic arguments currently holding the country hostage is that it has adopted so many of them itself. Which is why we get nonsense like this, from Tim Geithnerlast week: “This president understands deeply that governments don’t create jobs, businesses create jobs.”

Has the Treasury Secretary never heard of the Civilian Conservation Corps, the Works Progress Administration, and the Tennessee Valley Authority? If so, why is he cynically mouthing GOP claptrap?

The two main Republican arguments against extending benefits — that they will add to the deficit, and that they make people less likely to look for work — are easily shot down.

Dean Baker makes quick work of the deficit argument:

“The latest extension of unemployment benefits would have added $22 billion to the debt by the end of 2011. This means that the debt would be $9,807,000,000 instead of $9,785,000,000 at the end of fiscal 2011, an increase of the debt to GDP ratio from 65.3 percent to 65.4 percent.”

As for the claim that unemployment insurance keeps people from seeking a job, a report by Congress’ Joint Economic Committee found it to be less than credible:

“The best evidence suggests that during this current economic downturn both the unemployment rate and duration of unemployment were minimally impacted by unemployment insurance benefits and the extensions of benefits. To the extent that the unemployment rate even rises, UI may be providing an enormous social benefit by preventing people not from taking jobs, but from dropping out of the labor force altogether (and often permanently), relying instead on more costly programs like disability benefits.”

The report also notes that the average weekly benefit comes in at 25 percent below the poverty level for a family of four. So are we to believe that millions of people are not looking for jobs so they can maintain the cushy lifestyles enjoyed by those living well below the poverty rate? Shouldn’t the president and his team be banging home the ridiculousness of these claims — and the hardheartedness of those who make them?

Since the jobs crisis is clearly the most pressing domestic problem facing the country right now, it’s hard to figure out what’s worse: the fact that our system seems unable to do anything about high unemployment, or the growing acceptance that this is just the way things are in America today.

Came across these two good ole boys who just might have a good idea here. Seems they have an an answer to all the oil that has been leaking into the gulf for some time now.

Their idea is to just add hay. Yup hay or straw shot out into the ocean and let it sit for a small amount of time and whamo, the oil is gone. It seems the oil attaches itself t the hay and simply scooping up the hay and as you will see, do one of many things with it.

Hay, it’s easy, it’s plentiful, it’s cheap and it’s a damn good idea.

Our top five vehicles to hit the road this coming year are sporting a very strong trend amongst most others cars we could have picked. The top three cars and to us the most drool worthy are all hybrids.  Although out top choice has yet to actually hit mass production, we still included it, with fingers crossed that after three years of hype,  it will finally hit the US streets. That car being, the Fisker Karma. A car I think every man that stops by here at MOB would LOVE to own our top pick, hell we would love any of these babies.

5. Skoda Fabia RS: The Czech brand of VW has decided to integrate some of that racing DNA (at least appearance-wise) into a Fabia RS. A green roof and alloys aping those used on the S2000 racer are the Fabia RS’s showcase elements, along with a brutal lower front lip, smoked glass all around, darkened chrome work, a rear spoiler, and side skirts.

4. Cadillac CTS Sport Sedan: The 2010 CTS is, in some eyes, the most distinctive of all the vehicles in this group. Sharply folded edges, a chunky stance, and lots of chrome details give the sedan a stubby, sporting look. The huge Cadillac wreath-and-crest logo in front isn’t subtle, but then, not much about the CTS.

3. Ferrari 599 GTB Hybrid: The hybrid that would dominate Ferrari’s line-up of vehicles, or there would be no Ferrari cars at all. The fact that hybridization is the only possible answer to meet the new emission standards set both in the U.S. and Europe. Any failure to adhere to the set of rules would force Ferrari to pay hefty fines or even worse, stop manufacturing cars all together.

2. Porsche 918 Spyder: Another hybrid. It’s a two-seater with a 500-plus-horsepower V8, based on the RS Spyder racing car’s engine, teamed with electric motors that make an overall 218 hp and a lithium-ion battery. The hybrid has a seven-speed PDK double-clutch gearbox.

1 .Fisker Karma: By the end of this year or early next, the first real live models of the Fisker Karma, a sexy, luxury, $88,000-a-pop hybrid sports sedan, should begin to show up on U.S. roads. is a plug-in series hybrid using electric power to turn the wheels. The 22 kilowatt-hour lithium ion battery pack, to be provided by A123 Systems, promises 50 miles of electric range. A 2.2-liter GM Ecotec four will power a generator that keeps enough current flowing to add 250 more miles.

Butt/Face Soap

Today is day 5 of rain and gloom here in New York . I just got back from my insurance agent and as I was driving I thought about what to post today on the MOB blog. While nothing jumped out at me, not that it rarely does, I was thinking day dreaming of what might be of some interest maybe even some fun.

That is when I thought of this list of what people insure. In particular what do people insure on their own person, you know legs, hands etc. I guess you can insure almost anything, as long as the mathematical statistics fall in favor of the insurance companies, they will more than likely insure anything.

How I arrived at my top ten list, is I went back into the archives.  As I knew that the old Hollywood studio moguls used to insure their actors and actresses body parts in case they were in the middle of filming a movie and their main character got injured, thus delaying or worst cancelling filming the movie. So with that in mind I converted what each policy would be worth in today’s monies.

As you can see I have a picture of Gene Simmons of KISS as the lead in picture for celebrity insurance, because to me that is one iconic tongue and surely had to be insured.
